Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) is Canada’s premier international tourism marketplace. Led by Destination Canada, RVC showcases the rich diversity of Canada and contributes to the prosperity and growth of our tourism industry. Held annually in a different Canadian city, RVC introduces some 500 international tour operators (buyers) to Canadian sellers of tourism products via a series of pre-scheduled speed-dating-style appointments. It’s a quick, efficient and enjoyable way for you to meet a large number of buyers with the goal of finding the perfect match for your products and services. RVC 2019 was co-hosted by Destination Ontario and Tourism Toronto – the tenth time Ontario has hosted the conference and the sixth time for Toronto – since the event began 43 years ago. The event was co-managed and produced by Destination Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.

Every May, Destination Canada hosts Rendez-vous Canada, the country’s largest marketplace for tourism products and services. The annual event brings together tour operators and wholesalers from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Latin America, and North America; all are eager to find new products, services, and packages featuring Alberta’s authentic experiences during pre-arranged 12-minute appointments with sellers. Marketplaces are a valuable face-to-face relationship-building tool for Canadian tourism suppliers who have an export-ready product and are serious about working in the international marketplace. Canada’s premier tourism marketplace, Rendez-vous Canada, is an annual event that brings Canadian tourism providers together with buyers from all over the world.

RVC is held in a different Canadian city each year, and this year’s conference took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Destination Ontario and Tourism Toronto presented this year’s edition in partnership with Destination Northern Ontario, Ottawa Tourism, UP Express, and the Niagara Parks Commission. “Over 15 million international visitors travel to Ontario each year to experience Ontario’s stunning landscapes; local cuisine; arts and culture; and celebrate our diversity,” said Lisa LaVecchia, President and CEO, Destination Ontario. “International tourists travel for longer periods and spend more, $10 billion annually; they are high-yield economic drivers and are significantly important to Ontario’s tourism industry.”

This annual event rotates across Canada and provides international tourism industry leaders an opportunity to meet one-on-one at the marketplace. Collaboration is quick, yet efficient, with pre-scheduled appointments by mutual request of both the buyer and seller.

A key aspect of RVC is the Marketplace that matches more than 1900 delegates in a series of one-on-one meetings designed to garner potential business. All 470 booths were sold out – a new record. Over the course of the event, about 32,000 pre-scheduled timed appointment meetings were held between international travel buyers and Canadian travel sellers. Global interest is higher than ever before: there was more than one buyer for every seller in attendance, from 30 international markets.

All provinces and territories were represented, showing that tourism really is from coast to coast to coast; 571 tourism organizations promoted Canadian products and services this year.

Dealmakers: delegates conducted over 31,000 face-to-face business appointments during the four-day event, a new record for Rendez-vous Canada.

The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada brought together 33 indigenous tourism businesses in the indigenous pavilion, a new record for Rendez-vous Canada.

As of 1998, Rendez-vous Canada has been staged by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) on behalf of the Canadian Tourism Commission, including provincial, territorial and municipal or regional tourism authorities and the private sector. Rendez-vous Canada is held in a different Canadian city each year, with this year's conference running from May 28-31 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
