Do I need an IATA license to operate a website for a travel business?

In order to operate a white label website, is it necessary to have an IATA number or a Seller of Travel number?

Hi Leonardo,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful question! I completely understand how important this is, especially when you're just starting out in the travel industry. I would be happy to provide you with some guidance.

If you're looking to generate commissions from your website and are in the early stages of your business, the Travel Affiliate Solution could be an ideal starting point. This option allows you to establish your online presence with a relatively low investment, and it does not require an IATA license.

Alternatively, if you choose to partner with travel technology providers or agencies that offer APIs, you can build your website without the need for an IATA license. In this case, the suppliers providing the APIs will manage bookings and ticketing for you.

However, if you plan to work directly with GDS, Bedbanks, or OTAs and wish to sell services via their APIs, you will need an IATA license to issue tickets. Additionally, obtaining an IATA number can help establish credibility within the industry and enhance your reputation with potential partners.

At Travelopro, we are fully committed to helping you succeed. We offer a variety of services, from website development to API integration and marketing strategies, to ensure you have the tools and support you need to build a successful business.

I hope this information has provided you with the clarity you were looking for. If you have any further questions or require additional support, please feel free to reach out. Simply fill out the inquiry form below, and we'll be in touch with all the details you need.
