The travel and tourism industry are the world’s largest and most diverse industry. Many nations rely on this dynamic industry as a primary source for generating revenues, employment, private sector growth, and infrastructure development. Tourism development is encouraged, particularly among the developing countries around the world, when other forms of economic development, such as manufacturing or the exportation of natural resources, are not commercially viable. The reasons people desire to travel are complex and varied. Contributing to the powerful growth tourism has experienced in a relatively short time frame has been the increased accessibility to the many components of the travel experience. Transportation to, from, and within parts of the world once considered remote has become more affordable for, and within the reach of, the majority of residents in many nations. Accommodations and restaurants in assorted budget categories are universally found in major cities, resort locations, adjacent to airports and thoroughfares, and in rural areas. Professional services provided by travel agencies and tour operators, marketing efforts by public sector tourism offices, advanced technology that rapidly brings the tourism components together in a flash for the potential traveler–all make today’s travel experience safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Exhibition

Exhibitions are an important component of the meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition (MICE) industry, also known as the business events industry. Although “exhibition” and “trade show” are frequently used interchangeably to refer to showcases of products and services, technically, “exhibition” has a broader meaning than “trade show”. Exhibitions can be subdivided into three categories, of which a tradeshow is only one. The other two categories are consumer shows, and trade plus consumer shows. These three types of exhibitions are markedly different in terms of visitor profiles. Trade shows are open only to invited customers, and suppliers, as well as to the news media. In contrast, consumer shows are open to the public during the final days of the show. To clarify potential terminological confusion, the term ‘exhibition’ will be used in the broader sense of any showcase of goods and services. ‘Trade show’ will refer to exhibitions open only to invited customers and suppliers.

The Event is a valuable business platform providing new business and cooperation opportunities to the global travel sectors.

However, all types of exhibitions also attract visitors who simply wander the aisles as a routine institutional activity to develop and maintain their networks. An exhibition allows visitors to establish contacts and exchange information, especially technical and transactional information, with exhibitors and also with other visitors, to meet current suppliers, to find new suppliers and new vendors, and also to negotiate business. Finally, existing studies have shown that in the trade show context, another major attendance motivator is attending seminars and special events. Educational or informational seminars provide visitors with an opportunity to advance their knowledge, develop their careers, and get hands-on experience.

Along with online marketing, public relations and direct mail, exhibitions are an effective marketing sales tool, which offer exhibitors the opportunity to establish their brand image, address potential buyers’ needs, observe competitors and make direct sales. Also, attending an exhibition allows the visitor to obtain information from many vendors in a one-stop shopping opportunity. Exhibitions provide visitors with an opportunity to examine products, see how products work, look for something different, and enjoy entertainment at the shows, as well as to see the latest innovations and observe market trends, often well in advance of their public launch. Attendance at an exhibition allows visitors to gather information on new products; view particular products; observe companies; make contracts; examine products and compare brands; to reduce cognitive dissonance after making a purchase; and collect information for future purchases. Moreover, exhibitions offer a personal element: face to face marketing, and experiential marketing.

Benefits of tourism and travel shows

Economic benefits

Income generated within the country: Tourism is a labor-intensive service industry, can create direct as well as indirect income from tourist expenditure by providing tourist goods and services. For example, expenditure in hotels, investment in infrastructure development, transportation services, catering services, purchase of goods and services like water, food and beverage, etc.; all result in income generation. The flow of money generated by tourism multiplies many times as it passes through various stages of the company. This is nothing but the ‘multiplier effect’ of tourism earnings. It is the extra income produced in an economy as a result of the initial spending of money. This extra income is again invested directly or indirectly and there are many rounds of income generation.

Spotlight on French Polynesia

Some 40 delegates will travel to the Show from French Polynesia to celebrate the accessibility of the mythical islands and the beauty of their culture. In a prime location that allows for activities and interaction, the team will present the region’s cultural traditions: the Tahitian dance known as Ori Tahiti, which mimes stories, legends and everyday life; wood and stone carving, for which the islands are famous; vanilla, prized by chefs around the world; monoï, a perfumed oil made from flowers that nourishes the skin; tattooing and its symbolic patterns expressing identity and personality; the rich and deep tradition of Polynesian weaving; high-quality pearls and mother of pearl and finally noni, a medicinal plant used by Polynesians for over 2,000 years. The team from French Polynesia will no doubt turn plenty of heads at the Show this year.

Foreign Exchange: The most important economic impact of tourism is the earning of foreign exchange. It is a significant source of earning for many developing countries. It adds to the national income as an invisible export and may offset a loss on the visible trading account. As an invisible export, this sector earns a huge amount of foreign exchange without actually exporting. The technical innovations, international competition due to globalization and liberalization has made the developed countries to search for a product to earn needed foreign exchange that is through tourism. For our countries, tourism generates the highest net of foreign exchange. It is perhaps, the only area where developing countries are on par with the developed countries.

Taxes: It is an important source for generating An Overview of Benefits and Opportunities of Tourism revenue. The tax income to the government from the tourism sector may be direct or indirect. Taxes on tourists accrue in the form of VAT on tourism spending, import duty on goods imported for the use of tourists. Entertainment tax, property tax on accommodation, service tax, and luxury tax is the benefits accrue to the state revenue.

Employment: Another major direct economic effect of tourism is related to employment. Most of the developing countries are facing problems with unemployment and under unemployment. The tourist industry is a valuable source of employment to a large number of people from the unskilled to waiters, cooks, managers, executives in hotels, transport, constructing hotels, roads, airports, water supply and other public utilities, the basic infrastructures for tourism promotion creates job for thousands of skilled and unskilled workers.

Benefits of Trade Shows

Trade Shows Are Incredible Face-To-Face Marketing Events

When it comes to influencing a decision, nothing can compete with face-to-face interaction. Trade shows provide opportunities to engage with current customers and attendees. It doesn’t matter whether you’re marketing a service or selling your new product, an in-person presentation and short question-based conversation afterward can help you to close the deal quickly versus an email sharing the latest sales promo. This makes the pre-show planning key to trade show success. If you’ve got an employee who is a natural at “turning on the charm” or one who is great at relationship selling, it should be a no brainer on them being a part of the sales team. The cost of bringing them to your next trade show event could pay for itself within hours of the show starting.

Tradeshow Lead Generation Potential

When it comes to trading show benefits, this is one of the biggest. Major trade shows have massive followings and attendance. For example, the Consumer Electronics Show in 2014 had over 152,000 attendees on the trade show exhibition floor from more than 150 countries. Each attendee of a trade show is a potential lead waiting to be captured. Having QR codes linked to social media accounts or lead generation pages, asking for contact information during a presentation and getting their business cards are all great ways to get fresh leads in your sales pipeline. Make it clear to them that you’ll be contacting them after the show. Make sure to follow up with the candidates most likely to buy while the event is still fresh in their minds.

Tradeshows Create Lasting Impressions If Done Right

The main purpose of trade show events is to showcase a wide variety of options for attendees and businesses to engage and interact with each other. With a well-designed trade show booth that draws attendees’ attention, a few promotional items, a contest opportunity with giveaways and sales collateral, you have a well-rounded booth experience that leaves an impression with a prospective customer for months. Consider having attendees enter a drawing by submitting a business card or completing an action on social media. These types of promotions serve dual purposes: increasing engagement and capturing potential contact information as well.

Trade Shows Are Cost-Effective Networking and Advertising

Designing a trade show booth, renting space on the trade show floor, traveling to the show and from the show, paying for lodging and meals can seem like a steep price tag for a single marketing event. If you’ve done the pre-show marketing work leading up to the show, the potential that a trade show offers your business can far exceed the investment. Though you might have a larger initial investment to showcase your business at a trade show than other advertising or networking methods, the cost to convert a prospect into a sale is often much lower than other alternatives. With proper research and planning, trade shows are one of the most cost-effective sources of leads and sales possible.

Trade Shows Target Audiences Result In Direct Sales Opportunities

Most conventions and trade shows have a specific market or niche they focus on. By exhibiting at popular trade shows within your industry, the odds are very high that you’ll have exposure to an audience that is likely to have an interest in your product or services and are ready to buy. ALWAYS have something to sell at a trade show. It doesn’t matter if you only bring your latest products or have a wide variety of products to choose, the opportunity to generate sales shouldn’t be lost because you didn’t have something for them to buy. Don’t miss out on that sale!
