BBTF 2019 was held on 25 to 29 June 2019 as a market place to explore business, opportunities, trends and industrial concepts as well as the diversity of Indonesia's cultural heritage that displays a complete spectrum of tourism at all levels including the hotel sector, travel agents, national tourism organizations, and MICE. Bali and Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2019 returns for its sixth year, from 25 – 29 June at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). Organized by the Bali Chapter of the Indonesian Association of Travel Agents (ASITA-Bali), this year’s event adopts the theme “Journey to Sustainable Tourism”, reflecting the desire of the Indonesian tourism industry to preserve and protect its unique cultures and natural environment. Like last year’s successful event, Bali and Beyond Travel Fair 2019 is on target to attract over 200 sellers with the closing deadline falling on 8 May 2019. Meanwhile, sellers are registering at a record pace with some 300 buyers expected to register. Most of the buyers for this year’s event come to Europe, with 30 UK buyers already registered, followed by France, Netherlands, Italy, German as well as Eastern Europe like Bulgari, Estonia, Poland, and Russia.

Based on the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) this year’s research has shown that: Travel & Tourism in Indonesia grew at 7.8% in 2018 – double the global average of 3.9% and ahead of Indonesia’s wider economy. This contributed 6.0% to Indonesia’s GDP, worth IDR 890,428 bn (USD$62.6 billion) when all direct, indirect and induced effects are taken into consideration. Travel & Tourism supports 10.3% of all Indonesia’s employment, or 13 million jobs GDP contribution is projected to grow by 5.2% in 2019. One in three of all tourism jobs in the ten countries that make up South East Asia is located in Indonesia. This makes Indonesia the third-largest Travel & Tourism economy in South East Asia after Thailand and the Philippines. There was a remarkable increase in business spending last year, which now accounts for 30% of tourism spend in Indonesia compared to 70% of leisure. In total, international tourists spent nearly IDR 221,000 bn (USD $15.5 billion) in Indonesia last year, accounting for 6.8% of total exports. The largest inbound international markets were Singapore (15%); Malaysia (14%); China (13%); Australia (11%); and Japan (5%).
